Rewards Cards: The Unspoken Trauma Of Modern Living

Today's real struggle: choosing between oat milk brands.

One is often reminded of the profound hardship faced by, say, a coal miner at the dawn of the industrial age. Their days, undoubtedly, were characterized by gruelling labour and an almost total absence of the modern conveniences we now consider basic human rights. Yet, in our enlightened age, a new, more insidious form of suffering has emerged, quietly chipping away at the very fabric of our well-being.

Consider the modern consumer, beleaguered by the relentless pursuit of optimizing their credit card rewards. The sheer mental strain of calculating the precise value of a 'point' versus a 'mile' for a hypothetical flight to Dubai while simultaneously navigating the labyrinthine terms and conditions of a third-party booking portal is, frankly, unconscionable. It's an industry, much like those of old, designed to extract every last ounce of your attention, leaving you with little more than a vague sense of existential dread and perhaps a discount on an airport lounge pass. The regulatory oversight, one might argue, is equally robust.
